Tellurium tetrahalides undergo reaction with glycols to yield three different products: O,O'-dioxotrihalotellurates; bis(alkoxy)dihalotellurium(IV) compounds and hexahalotellurates. The course of the reaction appears to be determined primarily by the natur

Synthesis and Properties of Ammonium Trichloro(dioxyethylene-O,O')tellurate (AS-101). A New Immunomodulating Compound
Ammonium trichloro(dioxyethylene-O,O')tellurate(IV) (AS-101) was synthesized by refluxing tellurium(IV) chloride and ethylene glycol in acetonitrile, or by refluxing tellurium(IV) chloride and ammonium chloride in ethylene glycol.A mechanism for the reaction is suggested.X-ray data for AS-101 are given.Replacing ammonium chloride by potassium chloride yielded the potassium salt; however, with sodium chloride the sodium salt was not obtained.
