Based on the structure of natural product 2-aryl-4,5-dihydrothiazole-4-carboxylic acid, a series of novel (R)-2-aryl-4,5-dihydrothiazole-4-carboxylic acid derivatives were designed and synthesized. Their structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS. The single crystal structure of compound 9b was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The antifungal activities were evaluated for the first time. The bioassay results indicated that most compounds exhibited moderate to good antifungal activities. The antifungal activities of compound 13a (against Cercospora arachidicola Hori), 13d (against Alternaria solani), and 16e (against Cercospora arachidicola Hori) were 61.9%, 67.3% and 61.9%, respectively, which are higher than those of the commercial fungicides chlorothalonil and carbendazim. Moreover, compound 13d exhibited excellent antifungal activities against 7 kinds of the fungi tested (66.7%, 77.3%, 63.0%, 87.9%, 70.0%, 70.0% and 80.0% at 50 μg?mL). Therefore, 13d can be used as a new lead structure for the development of antifungal agents.

Ten aripirazole (CAS 129722-12-9) derivatives were prepared and examined for dopamine receptor antagonist activity. The structures of these newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by their elemental analyses and by IR, 1H-NMR and mass spectra. It was demonstrated that all the new compounds have dopamine receptor antagonist activity to a certain extent. Three compounds showed more potent activity than aripiprazole. A new kind of benzotriazole derivatives has been designed and synthesised. The structures of all of the title compounds were characterised by 1H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analyses. Herbicidal activities of the benzotrizole derivatives were evaluated with barnyard grass and rape cup and KARI tests. The results showed that compounds exhibited weak herbicidal activities against barnyardgrass and rape and KARI enzyme.

A series of cyclic imides bearing a ω-(4-aryl and 4-heteroaryl-1-piperazinyl)alkyl moieties was synthesized and tested in vivo for anxiolytic activity. The in vitro binding affinities of these compounds were also examined for 5-HT(1A) receptor sites. Structure-activity relationships within these series are discussed. One of these compounds, (1R*,2S*,3R*,4S*)-N-[4-[4-(2-pyrimidinyl)-1-piperazinyl]butyl]-2,3- bicyclo[2.2.1]heptanedicarboximide (1: tandospirone), was found to be equipotent with buspirone in its anxiolytic activity and more anxio-selective than buspirone and diazepam. Tandospirone (1) is currently undergoing clinical evaluation as a selective anxiolytic agent.
