Explanation
The molecular formula represents the number of atoms of each element present in a molecule. In this case, the compound has 15 carbon (C) atoms, 14 hydrogen (H) atoms, 2 nitrogen (N) atoms, and 2 oxygen (O) atoms.
Explanation
This is the specific arrangement of atoms in the molecule, which defines its chemical properties and reactivity.
Explanation
The compound is derived from pyridine, a heterocyclic aromatic compound, by replacing a hydrogen atom with a carbonitrile group (-CN).
Explanation
A carbonitrile group is a functional group consisting of a carbon atom triple-bonded to a nitrogen atom. It is present in this compound, contributing to its chemical properties.
Explanation
A methyl group is an alkyl group derived from methane, consisting of one carbon atom bonded to three hydrogen atoms. It is present in the compound, attached to the pyridine ring.
Explanation
A methoxyphenyl group is an aryl group derived from anisole, consisting of a benzene ring with a methoxy (-OCH3) substituent. It is present in the compound, attached to the pyridine ring.
Explanation
Nitrile derivatives, like this compound, may exhibit various biological activities, which could make them useful in the development of pharmaceuticals. However, further research is needed to fully understand their potential uses and properties.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 109273-57-6 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,9,2,7 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 109273-57:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*9)+(5*2)+(4*7)+(3*3)+(2*5)+(1*7)=126
126 % 10 = 6
So 109273-57-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Current treatment for hepatitis C is barely satisfactory, there is an urgent need to develop novel agents for combating hepatitis C virus infection. This study discovered a new class of thieno[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives as HCV inhibitors. First, a hit compound characterized by a thienopyridine core was identified in a cell-based screening of our privileged small molecule library. And then, structure activity relationship study of the hit compound led to the discovery of several potent compounds without obvious cytotoxicity in vitro (12c, EC50 = 3.3 μM, SI >30.3, 12b, EC50 = 3.5 μM, SI >28.6, 10l, EC50 = 3.9 μM, SI >25.6, 12o, EC 50 = 4.5 μM, SI >22.2, respectively). Although the mechanism of them had not been clearly elucidated, our preliminary optimization of this class of compounds had provided us a start point to develop new anti-HCV agents.
