5--4-phenyl-3-(4-pyridyl)-1, 2, 4-triazoles (IIIa-k) have been prepared from N-aryl-2-chloroacetamides (Ia-k) and 5-mercapto-4-phenyl-3-(4pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole (II).These compounds possess ALD50 values ranging from 500 to 1000 mg/kg and inhibit monoamine oxidase (MAO)(10-70percent) and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) (27-80percent) in vitro at a concentration of 2 x 10-4 mol and provide 10-60percent protection against pentylenetetrazole-induced convulsions in mice.
