- Hydroboration reduction reaction of aromatic nitro compounds without transition metal catalysis
-
The invention relates to a hydroboration reduction reaction of aromatic nitro compounds without transition metal catalysis. According to the method, triethyl boron and potassium tert-butoxide are used as catalysts for the first time, and an aromatic nitro compound and pinacol borane which is low in price and easy to obtain can be conveniently catalyzed to be subjected to a hydroboration reduction reaction under mild conditions to prepare aromatic amine products. Compared with a traditional method, the method generally has the advantages that the catalyst is cheap and easy to obtain, operation is convenient, and reaction is safe. The selective hydroboration reduction reaction of the non-transition metal reagent catalyzed aromatic nitro compound and pinacol borane is realized for the first time, and a practical new reaction strategy is provided for laboratory preparation or industrial production of aromatic amine products.

- Selective Methylation of Amides, N-Heterocycles, Thiols, and Alcohols with Tetramethylammonium Fluoride
-
We herein disclose the use of tetramethylammonium fluoride (TMAF) as a direct and selective methylating agent of a variety of amides, indoles, pyrroles, imidazoles, alcohols, and thiols. The method is characterized by operational simplicity, wide scope, and ease of purification. Our computational studies suggest a concerted methylation-deprotonation as the preferred reaction pathway.

- Silver-mediated trifluoromethylation of aryldiazonium salts: Conversion of amino group into trifluoromethyl group
-
A novel strategy for aromatic trifluoromethylation by converting aromatic amino group into CF3 group is reported herein. This method, which can be considered as trifluoromethylation variation of the classic Sandmeyer reaction, uses readily available aromatic amines as starting materials and is performed under mild conditions.

- Amide conformational switching induced by protonation of aromatic substituent
-
(Matrix presented) Introduction of an electron-withdrawing group on the aromatic ring of N-methylacetanilide decreased the ratio of the cis conformer, and the ratio correlates well with the Hammett σ values of the substituents. These steric properties can be applied to achieve amide conformational swiching by protonation at the aromatic substituent of 4-[bis(dimethylamino)]-N-methylacetanilide or N-[p-(dimethylamino)phenyl]-N-phenylacetamide.
