The invention discloses a method for improving the conversion rate of azoxystrobin. The method comprises the following steps: preparing methyl (E)-2-[2-(6-chloropyrimidin-4-yloxy)phenyl]-3-methoxy acrylate; preparing o-hydroxybenzonitrile; mixing methyl (E)-2-[2-(6-chloropyrimidin-4-yloxy)phenyl]-3-methoxy acrylate, o-hydroxybenzonitrile, potassium carbonate and ketene chloride according to a molar ratio of 30: 35: 50: 1.1, and dissolving the obtained mixture in dimethylformamide to obtain a mixed product; and heating the prepared mixed product, keeping the mixed product at a certain temperature, conducting filtering, carrying out reduced-pressure distillation, performing cooling, separating out crystals, carrying out filtering and washing and performing drying to obtain azoxystrobin. On the basis of the prior art, the synthesis of azoxystrobin is improved in the invention, so the yield of azoxystrobin is effectively increased, the conversion rate of the raw materials including methyl(E)-2-[2-(6-chloropyrimidin-4-yloxy)phenyl]-3-methoxy acrylate and o-hydroxybenzonitrile for azoxystrobin in the process of preparing azoxystrobin is effectively improved, and the production benefit of azoxystrobin is improved.

Process for preparing 4,6-bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine derivatives A process is provided for preparing 4,6-bis(aryloxy)pyrimidine derivatives. The process is conducted in water as reaction medium and catalyzed by one or more tertiary-amine catalyst(s). It has been found that a water based reaction substantially free of organic solvents can be carried out providing excellent yields by the addition of one or more tertiary-amine catalysts to the reaction medium. This provides a clean reaction and produces the desired product in high yields.

Phototransformation of azoxystrobin fungicide in organic solvents. Photoisomerization vs. photodegradation
Azoxystrobin is a systemic fungicide that has a tendency to accumulate at the surface of crop leaves or inside their cuticle where it undergoes photodegradation. Its photochemistry was investigated in n-heptane and isopropanol to mimic the polarity of wax leaves. Using analytical and kinetic data, we demonstrate that azoxystrobin (isomer E) undergoes efficient photoisomerization into the isomer Z with a quantum yield of 0.75 ± 0.08. This value is 30-fold higher than that reported in aqueous solution. The photoisomerization of isomer Z into azoxystrobin is more efficient with a chemical yield of 0.95 ± 0.1. In addition, a pseudo photostationary equilibrium is reached when the ratio [azoxystrobin]/[isomer Z] is 2.0 ± 0.1. Photodegradation also takes place from azoxystrobin (quantum yield = 0.073 ± 0.008). Photoproducts mainly arise from bond cleavage between rings and from demethylation of the ether with or without saturation of the acrylate double bond. Theoretical calculations were undertaken to investigate the photoisomerization mechanism and the solvent effect. These data show that the photochemical reactivity of azoxystrobin is enhanced when the solvent polarity decreases and thus should be significant in leaf waxes.

PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SUBSTITUTED CYNOPHENOXY-PYRIMIDINYLOXY-PHENYL ACRYLATE DERIVATIVES
The present invention provides a process for reacting between a phenol derivative and an aromatic substrate under phenolate forming conditions comprising the following steps: (a) reacting a phenol derivative with a base in a polar organic solvent to obtain a phenolate salt, wherein water is removed from the reaction mixture during the reaction. (b) adding the aromatic substrate to the reaction mixture obtained in step (a), (c) heating the reaction mixture of step (b) to a temperature in the range of 80° to 1300C, preferebly, 90- 1000C for 2 to 7 hours to obtain a phenoxy substituted aromatic substrate, (d) removing the solvent from the mixture of step (c) and further isolating and purifying the phenoxy substituted aromatic substrate. Optionally, the removal of water during step (a) is in conjunction with partial removal of the organic solvent.
