- Partition coefficients of ketones, phenols, aliphatic and aromatic acids, and esters in n-hexane/nitromethane
-
Liquid-liquid partition is used in sample preparation and in countercurrent and liquid-liquid chromatographic separations. Partition coefficients are widely used in toxicology, environmental, and analytical chemistry. The K hn determination procedure for the n-hexane/ nitromethane system was optimized and partition coefficients for 99 ketones, esters and trimethylsilyl derivatives of phenols, aliphatic and aromatic acids were determined. For 130 compounds, Khn values were predicted using mathematical relationships between Khn and other physicochemical and structural parameters. Versita Sp. z o.o.

- An Effective Method for Acylation of Weakly Nucleophilic Anilines with Silyl Carboxylates via Mixed Anhydrides
-
In the presence of a catalytic amount of active titanium(IV) salt generated in situ from 1 mol of TiCl4 and 2 mol of AgOTf, weakly nucleophilic anilines react under mild conditions with nearly equimolar amounts of silyl carboxylates to afford the corresponding anilides in excellent yields using 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic anhydride. The mixed anhydride formed in situ from trimethylsilyl acetate and 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic anhydride, a key intermediate of this reaction, was detected by 1H NMR experiment.Further, it was shown that the reaction of the mixed anhydrides and 2-nitroaniline was faster than that of the corresponding homo anhydrides and 2-nitroaniline.

- Dye-Sensitized Photooxidation of Silyl Diazo Compounds. Intramolecular Oxygen Transfer of Carbonyl Oxides
-
The dye-sensitized photooxidation of silyl diazo compounds produced the corresponding silyl ketones and silyl esters, and the latter may be formed by the rearrangement of silyl-substituted carbonyl oxides. The reactions of a carbonyl oxide with various silyl ketones were also studied. The dye-sensitized photooxidation of diphenyldiazomethane in the presence of silyl ketones gave silyl esters together with benzophenone by reactions of a carbonyl oxide with the silyl ketones accompanying 1,2-anionic rearrangement of the silyl group.
