- Phytoecdysteroids of plants of the Silene genus. 2-dehydroxyecdysterone-3-O-benzoate from Silene wallichiana
-
The known ecdysteroids 2-dehydroxyecdysone, 2-dehydroxyecdysterone, ecdysterone-22-O-benzoate, ecdysterone, integristerone A, and a new ecdysteroid identified as 2-dehydroxyecdysterone-3-O-benzoate are isolated from roots of Silene wallichiana Klotzsch.

- Phytoecdysteroids of plants of the Silene genus and the dynamics of their accumulation
-
The ecdysteroids of four species of the genus Silene L. have been studied. Six ecdysteroids have been isolated and identified, and the dynamics of the accumulation of the ecdysteroids in relation to the phases of development of the plants have been determined.

- Synthesis and biological activity of 2-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone and derivatives
-
The naturally occurring ecdysteroids 2-deoxy-20-hydroxyecdysone (2-D-20-ECD, 2-deoxycrustecdysone), 2-D-20-ECD 3-acetate (2-deoxyecdysterone 3-acetate), 2-D-20-ECD 22-acetate and 2-D-20-ECD 22-benzoate have been partially synthesized from 20-hydroxyecdysone. Moulting hormone activity of these ecdysteroids has been studied using the Musca bioassay.

- Stereocontrolled Synthesis of 2-Deoxycrustecdysone and Related Compounds
-
The synthesis of 2-deoxycrustecdysone has been accomplished from pregnenolone. The key reaction is based on succesful stereochemical control at C-20 and C-22 involving the stereoselective reduction of lactone 23, derived from 20-oxosteroid 20 and 2-lithiofuran, to give γ-butyrolactone 25 having a(20R,22R)-20,22-diol functionality. 5-Epi-2-deoxymakisterone A, 5,24-epi-2-deoxymakisterone A, and 24-epi-2-deoxymakisterone A were also synthesized by application of the same sequence.
