- Inhibitor properties of carboxylates and their adsorption on copper from aqueous solutions
-
Adsorption, protective and passivating properties of several sodium higher carboxylates on a copper surface was studied in a borate buffer solution at pH 7.4. Sodium oleyl sarcosinate is shown to possess the best protective and adsorptive properties. It is established that at E = 0.0 V, the adsorption of oleyl sarcosinate is poly-layered, giving the best protection of copper upon its anodic dissolution. In a moist atmosphere with periodic condensation of moisture on the samples, it exceeded that of 1,2,3-benzotriazole.
