The invention relates to a method for synthetizing a herbicide-dicamba (2-methoxy-3,6-dichloro-salicylic acid) through catalytic oxidation. The method is characterized in that the dicamba is obtained through oxidation of air, oxygen or ozone by taking 2-substituent 3,6-banair as a raw material and adopting a composite catalyst. The method disclosed by the invention has the advantages that the operation is simple, the raw material is easy to obtain, the cost is low, the catalyst can be recycled, and the method is more environment-friendly and is more suitable for industrial production.

Preparation methods of 3,6-dichloro-2-bromotoluene and dicamba
The invention provides a preparation method of dicamba. The preparation method comprises the following steps: S1) in the presence of a catalyst, 2-bromotoluene is subjected to a chlorination reactionin chlorosulfonic acid or concentrated sulfuric acid, and 3,6-dichloro-2-bromotoluene is obtained; S2), 3,6-dichloro-2-bromotoluene is subjected to an oxidation reaction and a methoxylation reaction in sequence, and dicamba is obtained. Compared with the prior art, 3,6-dichloro-2-bromotoluene is obtained from 2-bromotoluene after the directional chlorination reaction, and dicamba can be obtained by the oxidation reaction and the methoxylation reaction. The methods have the advantages of easily available raw materials, low comprehensive cost, high methoxylation reaction selectivity, high totalyield, stable product quality and simple process, and facilitate industrial implementation.

The invention provides a preparation method of dicamba. A new process to prepare 3,6-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzoic acid, the penultimate intermediate in the synthesis of herbicide dicamba
Glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is a broad spectrum, post-emergent herbicide that is among the most widely used agrochemicals globally. Over the past 30 years, there has been a development of glyphosate-resistant weeds, which pose a significant challenge to growers and crop scientists, resulting in lower crop yields and increased costs. 3,6-Dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid (dicamba) is the active ingredient in XtendiMax a standalone herbicide developed by Bayer Crop Science to control broadleaf weeds, including glyphosate-resistant species. 3,6-Dichloro-2-hydroxybenzoic acid (3,6-DCSA) is the penultimate intermediate in the synthesis of dicamba. Existing dicamba manufacturing routes utilize a high temperature, high pressure Kolbe-Schmitt carboxylation to prepare 3,6-DCSA. Described in this Letter is a new, non-Kolbe-Schmitt process to prepare 3,6-DCSA from salicylic acid in four chemical steps.

The invention provides a preparation method of dicamba. A process for preparing a herbicidally active carboxylic acid salt is disclosed, the process comprising the steps of: i) combining a carboxylic acid with a high-boiling, water-immiscible organic solvent to obtain a solution or slurry; ii) treating the solution or slurry produced in step (i) with a base to form a carboxylic acid salt; iii) removing solvent from the mixture produced in step (ii) to obtain a carboxylic acid salt cake; and v) drying the cake obtained in step (iii). A process for preparing dicamba-sodium comprises: (1) dissolving a carboxylic acid consisting essentially of dicamba in a high-boiling water-immiscible inert organic solvent to get a solution or slurry; (2) treating the dicamba solution or slurry in Step 1 with a base selected from sodium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate and mixtures thereof, at a molar ratio of 1:0.97±0.6% to form dicamba-sodium; (3) centrifuging the reaction mixture in Step 2 to obtain dicamba-sodium salt cake; and (4) drying the dicamba-sodium cake obtained in Step 3 to get a dry dicamba- sodium consistently having a pH value between about 7 and 10 when dissolved in water.

A substituted pyridinesulfonamide compound or its salt represented by the following general formula (I): STR1 wherein A is CH or N; when A is CH, R1 and R2 may be either each independently a member selected from the group consisting of unsubstituted or substituted alkyl groups, unsubstituted or substituted alkenyl groups, unsubstituted or substituted cycloalkyl groups, and unsubstituted or substituted phenyl groups; when A is N, R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, R2 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted or substituted alkoxy group; and X and Y are each independently a member selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups and alkoxy groups, is disclosed. This compound is useful as the effective ingredient of a herbicide showing a wide weed-control spectrum even if used in a small amount.

This invention relates to inhibiting leaching of crop treating chemicals into the ground water, aqua-system and surrounding soil of the treatment site by contacting the plant or plant site with an effective leach inhibiting, plant tolerating amount of a nitrogen-containing copolymer having pendant nitrogeneous groups which contains between about 40 and about 98 wt. % of monomer unit A defined by the formula STR1 and 2 to 40 wt. % of comonomer unit B STR2 wherein X is hydrogen, a C1 to C22 radical of the group alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, alkaryl, aryloxy and alkaryloxy; R2 is hydrogen or --(CO)y' OR'; R, R1, R3 and R' are each selected from the group of hydrogen and lower alkyl; R6 is hydrogen or STR3 x, y, y' and z each have a value of 0 or 1; a has a value of from 2 to 4; Z is --O-- or --NH-- Y is an optionally quaternized group of STR4 and R4 and R5 are hydrogen or lower alkyl except that at least one of R4 and R5 is lower alkyl.

This invention discloses a process for the production of 2-methoxy-3,6-dichlorobenzoic acid which comprises reacting 2-amino-3,6-dichlorobenzoic acid with nitrous acid to form the corresponding diazonium salt, hydrolyzing the diazonium salt to form 2-hydroxy-3,6-dichlorobenzoic acid and methylating said hydroxy acid.

Use of 2,6-Dichlorobenzonitrile (Dichlobenil) as Starting Material for Synthesis of Herbicides, Derivatives of Benzoic Acid.
Results of an investigation are presented in which S//N reactions of dichlobenil and its transformation products were investigated using as nucleophilic agents for chlorine exchange: sodium methanolate and ethanolate, as well as aniline and its derivatives. It has been shown that the ability to enter the reaction of mono- or disubstitution is dependent on the kind of derivative of 2,6-dichloro-3-nitrobenzoic acid, as well as on conditions of reactions. In the manner described above, dichlobenil has been transformed into valuable herbicide, dicamba, i. e. 3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid. A mixture of isomeric acids has been obtained, their herbicide activity having the same range.
