- Polymerization of olefins
-
Olefins such as ethylene and propylene may be polymerized by using as catalysts novel selected transition metal complexes of bis(carboximidamidatonates) in which the carboximidamidatonate groups are connected together through covalent bonds by a bridging group. The resulting polymers are useful as molding and extrusion resins.

- Polymerization of olefins
-
Selected olefins such as ethylene and α-olefins are polymerized by nickel [II] complexes of certain monoanionic ligands. The polyolefins are useful in many applications such as molding resins, film, fibers and others. Also described are many novel nickel compounds and their precursors, as well a novel ligands.

- Novel monomers, polymers, methods of synthesis thereof and photoresist compositions
-
The present invention provides novel alicyclic-esterified norbornene carboxylates monomers, polymers and photoresist compositions that comprise the polymers as a resin binder component. Methods for synthesis of the monomers and polymers of the invention are also provided. The photoresist compositions of the invention can provide highly resolved relief images upon exposure to short wavelengths, including sub-300 and sub-200 nm wavelengths such as 193 nm and 157 nm.

- Olefin metathesis reactions in carbon dioxide medium
-
The present invention provides a process for olefin metathesis. The process comprises (a) providing a reaction mixture comprising an olefin, a metathesis initiator, and a reaction medium comprising carbon dioxide, and (b) reacting the reaction mixture to provide a metathesis modified olefin. The olefin metathesis reaction may be an olefin metathesis exchange reaction, an olefin metathesis degradation reaction, or a metathesis polymerization reaction. The carbon dioxide medium may be liquid, supercritical, and gaseous carbon dioxide.

- Process for the preparation of Diels-Alder adducts of halogenated cyclopentadienes
-
An improved process for the preparation of solid Diels-Alder adducts of halogenated cyclopentadienes and mono- or diolefins is disclosed wherein the reactants are combined in an aqueous emulsion. The adducts are obtained in excellent yield and in an extremely fine particulate form. The new process avoids the use of organic solvents which are relatively costly, hazardous to use, and from which the adducts are usually obtained as relatively large crystals which require pulverization prior to use.
