- α-METHYLTHIOBENZYLSULFONES AS SYNTHETIC INTERMEDIATES PART VI. SYNTHESES OF SOME VINYLIC SULFIDES AND SULFOXIDES
-
The syntheses of some p-substituted isopropyl α-methylthiobenzylsulfones and their reaction with CCl4-KOH-t-BuOH to give the corresponding vinyl sulfides, as well as their oxidation to the corresponding sulfoxides, are described. Some aspects of the reactivity of the α-sulfenyl, α-sulfonyl benzylic carbanions are discussed. Key words: Sulfides, sulfoxides, benzyl sulfones, sulfenylation, rearrangement.

- NEW PERSPECTIVE FOR THE SYNTHETIC APPLICATION OF SOME α-SULFENYLATED BENZYLIC SULFONES, SYNTHESIS OF VINYL SULFIDES.
-
Some α-sulfenylated para-substituted benzylic sulfones, obtained by sulfenylation of the corresponding sulfones, were submitted to reaction with CCl4-KOH-t-BuOH to give the corresponding para-substituted α-methylthio-dimethyl styrenes.
