Dihydroergocristine mesylate, also known as 4,10-Dihydroergocristine methanesulfonate, is a methanesulfonic acid salt of dihydroergocristine. It is a white or almost white, fine crystalline powder that has been used for the symptomatic treatment of mental deterioration associated with cerebrovascular insufficiency and in peripheral vascular disease. It is also a component of ergoloid mesylate (codergocrine mesilate), a mixture of ergot alkaloid derivatives that is used as a vasodilator and has shown mild benefits in the treatment of vascular dementia.

Dihydroergocristine mesylate is used as a 5-HT receptor antagonist and a partial agonist at adrenergic and dopaminergic receptors for the treatment of mental deterioration associated with cerebrovascular insufficiency and peripheral vascular disease.
Used in Neuroprotection:
Dihydroergocristine mesylate is used as an alpha receptor blocking agent for its neuroprotective properties, exerting agonistic and antagonistic activity on dopaminergic and adrenergic receptors. It is known to exhibit protective properties to the brain against metabolic effects of ischemia by acting at a cellular level.
Used in Vasodilation:
Dihydroergocristine mesylate is used as a component of ergoloid mesylate (codergocrine mesilate) for its vasodilatory effects, which have shown mild benefits in the treatment of vascular dementia.
