- Soluble polymer based matrix for chemically active water insoluble components

This invention relates to a water soluble matrix composition comprising an anionic surfactant, a C6 to C18 alkyl pyrrolidone, urea and a water insoluble copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone with not more than 50 wt. % of a comonomer selected from the group of an α-olefin, vinyl acetate, an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester and methacrylamide as a free flowing particulate solid which matrix is suitably mixed with a water insoluble, chemically active component, such as an agrochemical, to provide a clear sprayable film forming emulsion, such as a non-leachable film on a plant or other substrate surface. The invention also relates to the method of preparing the matrix and to the incorporation of an agrochemical concentrate and plant spray composition.

The present invention relates to the stabilization of an agricultural chemical concentrate in aqueous solution and the stabilized concentrate which comprises: (a) between about 0.1 and about 20 wt. % of a stabilizer composition comprising: (1) a C1 to C12 alkyl vinyl ether/organic acid ester copolymer, and (2) a polymer solubilizing amount of an aromatic petroleum distillate or an oxygen-containing solvent of an N-alkyl pyrrolidone, a C3 to C8 alkanol, a dibasic acid lower alkyl ester, an ether having a boiling point above 150° C. or mixtures thereof and (b) between about 80 and about 99.9 wt. % concentrate containing a water-insoluble active agricultural chemical, a solvent for said agricultural chemical and a surfactant for said concentrate. The invention also relates to the use of said stabilized concentrate.

The invention also relates to the use of said stabilized concentrate.

- Sulfamoylphenylureas

The N-acylsulfamoylphenylureas of formula I below are suitable as counter-agents (antidotes or safeners) for protecting cultivated plants from the phytotoxic action of herbicides. Suitable crops are preferably cereals, soybeans, sorghum, maize and rice, and suitable herbicides are sulfonylureas, chloroacetanilides and aryloxyphenoxypropionic acid derivatives. The N-acylsulfamoylphenylureas have the formula I STR1 wherein A is a radical selected from the group STR2 R1 is C1 -C4 -alkoxy or each of R1 and R2, independently of the other, is hydrogen, C1 -C8 alkyl, C3 -C8 cycloalkyl, C3 -C6 alkenyl, C3 -C6 alkynyl, STR3 or C1 -C4 alkyl substituted by C1 -C4 alkoxy or by STR4 or R1 and R2 together form a C4 -C6 alkylene bridge, or a C4 -C6 alkylene bridge interrupted by oxygen, sulfur, SO, SO2, NH or by --N(C1 -C4 alkyl)-, R3 is hydrogen or C1 -C4 alkyl, Ra to Rh, Rx and Ry are as defined in the disclosure.

The 1-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-thioxopyrrolidine-4-carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula I below are suitable for protecting crop plants against the phytotoxic action of herbicides and for regulating the plant growth. The 1-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-thioxopyrrolidine-4-carboxylic acid derivatives are those of the formula I STR1 wherein A is --COOR1, --COSR1, --COO? M≈, --CONR2 R3 or --COCl; R1 is hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl, C2 -C6 alkenyl or C2 -C6 alkynyl; R2 and R3 independently of one another are hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl or C3 -C7 cycloalkyl; or R2 and R3 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded are a saturated 3- to 7-membered heterocycle which can contain an additional hetero atom selected from the group comprising O, N and S and which is unsubstituted or up to trisubstituted by C1 14 C4 alkyl; and M≈ is the equivalent of an alkali metal cation or an alkaline earth metal cation or HN≈ (R2)3, and their isomers in optically pure or enriched form.

A herbicidal composition comprising a herbicidally effective amount of N-halogenoacylanilino-fatty acid or the ester derivative thereof represented by the general formula: STR1 wherein R1 and R2 each represents C1 -C4 allyl, R3 represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl having up to 10 carbon atoms, C3 -C5 alkenyl, C3 -C4 alkynyl or cyclohexyl, R4 represents lower alkyl substituted by 1-4 halogen atoms and Y represents C1 -C3 alkylene, as an effective ingredient, and a herbicidally effective inert carrier.

- Synergistic herbicidal compositions

Synergistic herbicidal activity is displayed by compositions comprising the following two components: (a) a pyrrolidone of the formula STR1 and (b) an acetanilide of the formula STR2 in which R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl, and chlorine; R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C2 -C6 alkoxyalkyl, and C3 -C6 carbalkoxyalkyl; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl, and chlorine; R4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl, and chlorine; and R5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1 -C4 alkyl, chlorine, and --NHSO2 CF3, at a weight ratio of (a) to (b) of from about 0.1:1 to about 50:1.
