Rate coefficients for the reactions CH3 + Br2 (224-358 K), CH3CO + Br2 (228 and 298 K), and Cl + Br 2 (228 and 298 K)
Rate coefficients for the reactions of CH3 + Br2 (k2), CH3CO + Br2 (k3), and Cl + Br2 (k5) were measured using the laser-pulsed photolysis method combined with detection of the product Br atoms using resonance fluorescence. For the reactions involving organic radicals, the rate coefficients were observed to increase with decreasing temperature and within the temperature range explored, were adequately described by Arrhenius-like expressions: k2 (224-358 K) = 1.83×10-11 exp(252/T) and k3 (228-298 K) = 2.92×10-11 exp(361/T) cm 3 molecule-1 s1. The total, temperature-independent uncertainty for each reaction (including possible systematic errors in Br2 concentration measurement) was estimated as ～7% for k2 and 10% for k3. Accurate data on k5 was obtained at 298 K, with a value of 1.88×10-10 cm3 molecule-1 s-1 obtained (with an associated error of 6%). A limited data set at 228 K suggests that k5 is, within experimental uncertainty, independent of temperature.

Mapping-Out Catalytic Processes in a Metal–Organic Framework with Single-Crystal X-ray Crystallography
Single-crystal X-ray crystallography is employed to characterize the reaction species of a full catalytic carbonylation cycle within a MnII-based metal–organic framework (MOF) material. The structural insights explain why the Rh metalated MOF is catalytically competent toward the carbonylation of MeBr but only affords stoichiometric turn-over in the case of MeI. This work highlights the capability of MOFs to act as platform materials for studying single-site catalysis in heterogeneous systems.

The invention relates to a synthesis method for organic synthesis of an intermediate acetyl bromide. The method mainly includes the steps of: adding 3mol acetamide into a reaction container, raising the temperature to 50-55DEG C, controlling the stirring speed at 110-130rpm, slowly adding 4-5mol hydrogen bromide, then raising the temperature of the solution to 80-85DEG C, maintaining reflux for 90-110min, conducting reduced pressure distillation, collecting 50-55DEG C fraction, conducting washing with an acetone solution and a hexane solution respectively, and conducting dehydration with a dehydrant, thus obtaining the finished product acetyl bromide.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING a-HALO-TETRAACYL-GLUCOSE
There is provided an efficient and excellent preparation method of an α-halo-tetraacyl-glucose which is suitable for industrial preparation, which comprises reacting D-glucose or lower alkyl D-glucoside with a reactive derivative of a carboxylic acid and a metal halide to prepare the α-halo-tetraacyl-glucose represented by the formula (III): wherein R represents an optionally substituted lower alkyl group or an optionally substituted aryl group, and X represents a halogen atom, in one step, and the resulting α-halo-tetraacyl-glucose (III) can be converted into a compound of the formula (I) or a salt thereof by subjecting to a conventional method.

Photochemical reactions of acyl iodides with aryl halides
Photochemical reactions of acyl iodides RC(O)I (R = Me, Ph) with aryl halides, fluoro-, chloro-, and bromobenzenes, 1,4-dibromobenzene, 2- and 3-bromotoluenes, and 4-bromo-1,2-dimethylbenzene, were studied. Acetyl iodide reacted with chloro- and bromobenzenes and 1,4-dibromobenzene according to the exchange pattern to give iodobenzene and 1,4-diiodobenzene, respectively. No halogen exchange was observed in the reactions of acetyl iodide with fluorobenzene and hexafluorobenzene. Benzoyl iodide failed to react with chloro- and brombenzene under UV irradiation but underwent polycondensation with formation of black nonfusible oligomers which were found to possess paramagnetic and semiconducting properties. Ultraviolet irradiation of a mixture of MeCOI with 2- or 3-bromotoluene, as well as with 4-bromo-1,2-dimethylbenzene, also led to the formation of polymeric products as a result of polycondensation of aryl iodides formed initially via replacement of bromine by iodine. Irradiation of benzoyl iodide in 2- or 3-bromotoluene involved recombination of benzoyl radicals to give benzil as the only product.

FORMATION OF ACYL BROMIDES FROM CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND N-BROMOSUCCINIMIDE; SOME REACTIONS OF BROMOCYANOTRIPHENYLPHOSPHORANE
Acyl halides, i.e., acyl bromides and acyl chlorides can be generated in high yields under mild conditions from the corresponding carboxylic acid in the presence of equivalent amounts of NBS/NCS and triphenylphosphine.The reaction between carboxylic acids, bromocyane and triphenylphosphine (Ph3PBrCN), affords under similar conditions acyl bromides.Bromocyanotriphenylphosphorane reacts also smoothly with epoxides, e.g., phenyloxirane. it appears, however, that the expected bromocyanides are not obtainable by this reaction, vicinal dibromides being formed instead.Key words: Acyl bromides, synthesis of from carboxylic acids and NBS, bromocyanotriphenylphosphorane, synthesis of alkylhalides.

Photolysis of matrix-isolated acetyl bromide and the infrared spectrum of the 1:1 molecular complex of hydrogen bromide with ketene in solid argon
Ketene and HBr were generated by photolysis of acetyl bromide in argon matrix.Of the photolysis products, ketene and HBr were trapped in the same matrix cage to form 1:1 molecular complex.The HBr stretching mode in the complex was observed at 2396 cm-1, which was displaced to 160 cm-1 below the frequency of the monomer HBr fundamental in solid argon.The DBr stretching frequency in the ketene-d2-DBr complex produced on photolysis of acetyl bromide-d3 was observed at 1717 cm-1, which was displaced to 120 cm-1 below the frequency of the monomer DBr fundamental in solid argon.After the matrices were annealed, these absorptions were shifted to 2383 and 1708 cm-1, respectively.

Synthesis of Dialkyl- and Alkylacylrhenium Complexes by Alkylation of Anionic Rhenium Complexes at the Metal Center. Mechanism of a Double Carbonylation Reaction That Proceeds via the Formation of Free Methyl Radicals in Solution
The site of alkylation of salts of acylrhenates such as Li(1+)(1-) (1) can be controlled by adjusting the hardness of the alkylating agent.Thus, treatment of 1 with the hard alkylating agent (CH3)3OPF6 gives predominantly the clssical Fischer carbene complex Cp(CO)2Re=C(OCH3)(CH3) (2), whereas reaction with the softer electrophile CH3I leads almost exclusively to the new metal-alkylated complex Cp(CO)2Re(CH3)(COCH3) (3).The structure of 3 has been determined by X-ray diffraction.The availability of this material, a relatively rare example of astable alkylacylmetal complex, has provided an opportunity to study the products and mechanisms of its carbon-carbon bond-forming decomposition reactions.Thermally, the alkyl acyl complex undergoes simple reductive elimination, leading (in the presence of a metal-scavenging ligand L) to a quantitative yield of acetone and CpRe(CO)2(L).Photochemically, a more complicated reaction takes place, especially under 20 atm of CO, where CpRe(CO)3 and 2,3-butanedione are formed.Strikingly, irradiation of Cp(CO)2Re(CH3)2 (9) under 20 atm of CO gives products identical with those formed from 3.Labeling experiments using (13)CO and mixtures of acetyl- and propionylrhenium complexes are inconsistent with a mechanism involving simple migratory CO insertion followed by reductive elimination.They are, however, consistent with metal-carbon bond homolysis leading to methyl and acetyl radicals, followed by carbonylation of the methyl radicals to give a second source of acetyl radicals; these reactive intermediates then dimerize to give 2,3-butanedione.Confirmation of this mechanism was obtained by trapping all the initially formed radicals withhalogen donors.BrCCl3, proved to be much more efficient than CCl4 for this purpose: irradiation of alkyl acyl complex 3 in the presence of BrCCl3 diverted the reaction completely from 2,3-butanedione production, giving instead CH3Br, CH3COBr, Cp(CO)2Re(CH3)Br, and Cp(CO)2Re(CH3CO)Br.

Photochemical decomposition of 2 under 20 atm of CO leads to 2,3-butanedione; evidence is presented that the diketone is produced by formation and carbonylation of free methyl radicals.

Carbon-Halogen Bonding Studies. Halogen Redistribution Reactions between Alkyl or Acetyl Halides and Tri-n-butyltin Halides
The equilibrium positions have been determined for the halogen redistribution reactions of tri-n-butyltin halides with a variety of structurally different types of alkyl halides and with acetyl halides.These have been related through the reaction ΔGo values to carbon-halogen bond dissociation energy differences.It is suggested that the trends observed in the latter may provide evidence for the existence of a small steric bond weakening effect in the order C-I > C-Br > C-Cl bonds on going from methyl to primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl halides.On the other hand, with the 2,3-? bond containing allyl, benzyl, and propargyl halides , α-haloacetones, and haloacetonitriles, there may be some type of electronic carbon-halogen bond strengthening effect which lies in order C-I > C-Br > C-Cl.Finally, for the acetyl halides, the data are in agreement with increases in bond strengths resulting from ? contributions being in the order C-Cl > C-Br > C-I.

2-Acyl-3-substituted cyclopentan-1-ones and process for their preparation
1,3-Dicarbonyl compounds useful as medicines, agricultural chemicals, perfumes, and their intermediates are prepared by reacting a specific α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compound with a specific organic copper lithium compound in the presence of an aprotic inert organic solvent, and then reacting the reaction product with an organic carboxylic acid halide or anhydride.
