50812-37-8 Usage
Uses
Used in Antigen Microarray and Informatics Analysis:
Glutathione S-Transferase from human placenta is utilized as a key component in antigen microarray and informatics analysis. This application aids in the study of protein-protein interactions and the identification of potential biomarkers for various diseases, including cancer.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
GST is employed as a detoxification agent in the pharmaceutical industry, where it plays a significant role in the metabolism and elimination of drugs and other xenobiotics. Its ability to conjugate with glutathione helps neutralize harmful substances, making it an essential tool in drug development and safety assessment.
Used in Environmental Toxicology:
In the field of environmental toxicology, GST is used as a biomarker for exposure to environmental pollutants and toxins. The enzyme's activity levels can indicate the extent of an organism's exposure to harmful substances, providing valuable information for assessing environmental health risks.
Used in Research and Development:
GST is also used in research and development for various applications, such as studying the mechanisms of drug resistance, understanding the role of GST in disease progression, and developing novel therapeutic strategies targeting GST-mediated pathways.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Glutathione S-transferase (GST) catalyzes conjugation reactions during phase II metabolism. This enzyme also confers protection against catabolic products of peroxidized lipid and oxidized DNA, and ROS (reactive oxygen species) or electrophiles.
Purification Methods
It is purified by affinity chromatography using a column prepared by coupling glutathione to epoxy-saturated Sepharose. After washing contaminating proteins, the pure transferase is eluted with buffer containing reduced glutathione. The solution is then concentrated by ultrafiltration, dialysed against phosphate buffer at pH ~7 and stored in the presence of dithiothreitol (2mM) in aliquots at <-20o. Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 50812-37-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,0,8,1 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 50812-37:
(7*5)+(6*0)+(5*8)+(4*1)+(3*2)+(2*3)+(1*7)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 50812-37-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
