Certain 2-(hydroxyalkyl)-2,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxy-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-ones and method for their preparation
Addition compounds of 2- or 5-monoalkyl and 2,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxy-2,3-dihydrofuran-3-ones and C2 -C9 carbonyl compounds are provided. These addition compounds are useful to impart improved flavoring properties to foodstuffs.
