- RECYCLING OF ORGANOTIN COMPOUNDS
-
A method for the synthesis of a first organic molecule, said method comprising the steps of: a) Reacting a first reactant with an organotin reactant having at least one optionally substituted organic group having from 5 to 20 carbon atoms selected from alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthioalkyl, carboxylates and alkylaminoalkyl groups, thereby forming a mixture of a product and a tin-containing by-product, and b) Removing most of the tin-containing by-product from said mixture in such a way as to provide a purified product comprising less than 1000 ppm of remaining tin-containing by- product, wherein said step of removing most of said tin-containing by-product is either an extraction between a first liquid and a second liquid, said second liquid being more polar than said first liquid and at least partly immiscible therewith or is a reversed phase chromatography.

- Process for the preparation of mono- and dialkyltin halogen compounds and use thereof
-
Production of mixtures of monoalkyl tin trichlorides (I) and dialkyl tin dichlorides (II) by reacting tin tetrachloride with an alkyl aluminum compound in the form of an ether donor complex comprises using an amount of ether in excess of that required to form the complex. Independent claims are also included for: (1) mixtures of (I) and (II) produced as above in a yield of at least 90 mole% based on tin tetrachloride; (2) mixtures of (I) and (II) comprising at least 50 mole% (I); (3) mixtures of (I) and (II) comprising up to 5 mole% trialkyl tin chlorides; (4) mixtures of (I) and (II) comprising at least 50 mole% (I), at least 20 mole% (II) and up to 5 mole% trialkyl tin chloride.

- Horticultural composition and method for controlling plant mites
-
An agricultural or horticultural miticidal composition for controlling mites which cause damage to plants, said miticidal composition comprising (1) a liquid carrier and/or a solid carrier, and (2) as an active ingredient, a trialkyltin compound of the formula STR1 wherein R1 represents a linear alkyl group having 6 to 11 carbon atoms, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, the total number of carbon atoms of R1 and R2 is from 7 to 11, m is an integer of 1 or 2, and X represents a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, a fluorine atom, a hydroxyl group, an acyloxy group, a dithiocarbamate group or a group of the formula --SR3, in which R3 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group, when m is 1, and a member selected from the class consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom and a sulfuric acid group when m is 2; and a method for controlling mites using the same.
