Effect of Different Groups on Cyclopentadienyl Ring on the Stability of Titanium-Cyclopentadienyl Bond
Reactions of ABTiCl2 (A = cyclopentadienyl and B = methylcyclopentadienyl or indenyl) with sodium salts of dithiocarbamic acids, Na(S2CNRR') (R = R' = CH3, C2H5, i-C3H7; or R = CH3 and R' = C6H6) have been carried out in the molar ratio of 1:3.It was found that in case of 5-C5H5)(η5-CH3C5H4)>TiCl2 the cyclopentadienyl ring was knocked off resulting in the formation of (η5-CH3C5H4)Ti(S2CNRR')3, whereas, in case of 5-C5H5)(η5-C9H7)>TiCl2 the indenyl ring was knocked off resulting in the formation of (η5-C5H5)Ti(S2CNRR')3.A suitable explanation for this observation has been proposed.
