Phase relations in the Cu-poor part of the Ce-Al-Cu system at 503 K
The phase relations of the ternary system Ce-Al-Cu in the Cu-poor part at 503 K were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The investigated composition region consists of 16 single-phase, 32 two-phase and 17 three-phase regions. At 503 K, the ma
Co-reduction of aluminium and lanthanide ions in molten fluorides: Application to cerium and samarium extraction from nuclear wastes
This work concerns the method of co-reduction process with aluminium ions in LiF-CaF2 medium (79-21 mol.%) on tungsten electrode for cerium and samarium extraction. Electrochemical techniques such as cyclic and square wave voltammetries, and po
Surface-hybridization interplay in the spectroscopy of Ce compounds
Evidence is provided of the role of the different hybridization strength between the surface layers and the bulk in determining the magnitude of the surface shift for the shallow Ce 4f levels, with respect to deeper core levels. The analysis is performed on both the surface- and bulk-related f0 (ionization) and f2 (affinity) features by means of photoemission and inverse photoemission, respectively, at various hr. The experimental findings show a good agreement with the results of a model calculation based on the Anderson impurity Hamiltonian.
