10038-40-1 Usage
General Description
2,2'-Bis(hydroxymethyl)diphenyl ether is a chemical compound commonly known as bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE). It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid that is often used as a crosslinking agent in the production of epoxy resins and as a component in the manufacture of adhesives, protective coatings, and dental sealants. BADGE is also used as a precursor for the synthesis of certain pharmaceuticals. Despite its widespread use, BADGE has been the subject of some controversy due to concerns about its potential health effects. It has been implicated in endocrine disruption and may have toxic effects on the liver and kidneys. Consequently, some regulatory agencies have restricted its use in certain consumer products.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 10038-40-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,0,3 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10038-40:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*0)+(4*3)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*0)=51
51 % 10 = 1
So 10038-40-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
