2-Chloropolyfluoroalkyl vinyl sulfones react readily with CH acids with triethylamine as catalyst, alkylate PH acids in the absence of catalyst, and form -cycloadducts with diazomethane and trimethylsilyl azide under mild conditions. In the Diels-Alder reaction fluorine-containing α,β-unsaturated sulfones react more readily than the corresponding sulfoxides and sulfides. The introduction of a CF3 group at the geminal position to the sulfonyl group increases the capacity of the compounds for -cycloaddition.
