A novel approach for creating efficient solid-state emitters is proposed. In this approach, various polyaromatic hydrocarbon groups are attached to tetraphenylethene, generating a series of luminogens that possess aggregation-induced emission characteristics. These luminogens are highly emissive in the solid state, with emission efficiencies equaling unity. High-performance OLEDs using these luminogens as light-emitting layers are fabricated, exhibiting efficiencies up to 5.6 lm W-1, 7.3 cd A -1, and 3.0 %.
