The invention relates to a preparation method of a betaine type quaternary ammonium salt antibacterial agent and a method for applying the betaine type quaternary ammonium salt antibacterial agent to fabric finishing, and belongs to the technical field of printing and dyeing assistants. The preparation method comprises the steps that hexadecyl dimethyl tertiary amine is dissolved in ethyl alcohol, 3-chloropropene is slowly dropwise added, hexadecyl(3-allyl)dimethyl ammonium chloride is obtained through aftertreatment, then potassium permanganate oxidation treatment is conducted, and hexadecyl(2-acetoxy)dimethyl ammonium chloride is obtained; then 1,3-propane sultone and N,N-dimethylacrylamine are dissolved in tetrahydrofuran, and post-treatment is conducted to obtain propylene-sulfopropyl betaine; then, propylene-sulfopropyl betaine is subjected to oxidation treatment through potassium permanganate, and acetoxy-sulfopropyl betaine is obtained; and finally, hexadecyl(2-acetoxy)dimethyl ammonium chloride, acetoxy-sulfopropyl betaine, isophorone diisocyanate and glycerol are mixed, and the betaine type quaternary ammonium salt antibacterial agent is obtained. The preparation method has the characteristics of simple process, good stability, long antibacterial durability and high antibacterial activity.
