306-67-2 Usage
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Applications:
Spermine Tetrahydrochloride is used as an inhibitor for [application type] in the study and treatment of various conditions related to the inhibited targets [application reason]. Its ability to inhibit these targets makes it a valuable compound in the development of pharmaceuticals and therapies.
Used in Research and Diagnostics:
Spermine Tetrahydrochloride is used as a precipitating agent for DNA extraction from various biological samples, such as fresh frozen breast cancer tissue, archival tissue of salivary gland, renal and thyroid tumors, and red blood cells of chicken [application reason]. This application aids in flow cytometric analysis and other diagnostic procedures.
Used in DNA Extraction:
Spermine Tetrahydrochloride is used as a precipitating agent for DNA from low salt aqueous buffers [application type] to facilitate DNA extraction and purification processes [application reason]. This is particularly useful in molecular biology and genetic research.
Used in Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS):
Spermine Tetrahydrochloride is used as a reactant in SERS for the characterization of abasic sites in DNA duplexes [application type]. This application is crucial for understanding the structural and functional aspects of DNA and its interactions with various molecules [application reason].
Biological Activity
Polyamine which produces a variety of modulatory effects on the NMDA receptor channel, acting through a specific site on the complex which can cause both agonist and antagonist effects.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mixed NMDA agonist/antagonist at the polyamine site. Neuroprotective effects have been observed at high concentrations (1 mM), while neurotoxicity is observed at lower concentrations. It enhances agonist effectiveness at the strychnine-insensitive glycine site. Plays a role in cellular proliferation and differentiation; inhibits neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
Purification Methods
Its pK values are similar to those of spermidine above. Purify it as for spermidine trihydrochloride above. [Beilstein 4 IV 1301.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 306-67-2 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 3,0 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 306-67:
(5*3)+(4*0)+(3*6)+(2*6)+(1*7)=52
52 % 10 = 2
So 306-67-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Chemoenzymatic syntheses of polyamines and tetraazamacrocycles
Rubio, Mercedes,Astorga, Covadonga,Alfonso, Ignacio,Rebolledo, Francisca,Gotor, Vicente
, p. 2441 - 2452 (2007/10/03)
Syntheses of different open chain polyamines starting from enzymatically prepared bis(amidoesters) are described. Some of these polyamines are also used as precursors in the syntheses of tetraazamacrocycles. This methodology can also be applied to the synthesis of chiral compounds.
