42042-68-2 Usage
General Description
4-Methylamino Butanol is a synthesized chemical compound, primarily used in industrial applications. Its exact composition consists of a butanol backbone with a methylamino functional group added to it. The addition of the methylamino group gives the compound enhanced reactive properties, allowing it to effectively participate in various chemical reactions. 4-METHYLAMINO BUTANOL is often used in the production of polymers and other complex chemical substances. It's also common in pharmaceutical manufacturing due to its useful reactive properties. However, like many industrial chemicals, it must be handled with care since it can be toxic and harmful with direct exposure.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 42042-68-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 4,2,0,4 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 42042-68:
(7*4)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*4)+(3*2)+(2*6)+(1*8)=82
82 % 10 = 2
So 42042-68-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Enhanced product selectivity in continuous N-methylation of amino alcohols over solid acid-base catalysts with supercritical methanol
Oku, Tomoharu,Ikariya, Takao
, p. 3476 - 3479 (2007/10/03)
The unique properties of supercritical fluids can be exploited for fine-tuning product selectivity. Under the conditions listed for the N-methylation of amino alcohols (see scheme) over solid acid-base bifunctional catalysts, the total yield and product selectivity could be improved. Enhanced product selectivity might be attributed to the milder reaction conditions possible with supercritical methanol, as well as the increased concentration of methanol on the catalyst.
