77358-96-4 Usage
General Description
2-(chloromethyl)dibenzo[b,d]furan, also known simply as CMDF, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of dibenzofurans. It is a chlorinated derivative of dibenzo[b,d]furan, which is a known environmental contaminant and potential human carcinogen. CMDF is used in the production of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and other industrial products, and it is also found as a byproduct in the synthesis of certain organic compounds. Its chemical structure and properties make it a potential concern for human health and the environment, as it is persistent and bioaccumulative. Therefore, there is ongoing interest in studying the toxicology and environmental impact of CMDF to better understand its potential risks and develop appropriate regulations for its use and disposal.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 77358-96-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,7,3,5 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 77358-96:
(7*7)+(6*7)+(5*3)+(4*5)+(3*8)+(2*9)+(1*6)=174
174 % 10 = 4
So 77358-96-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The synthesis and principal properties of α-(2-dibenzofurylmethyl)-propionic acid and of some of its derivatives are described.Racemic 2-(β-carboxypropyl)-dibenzofuran was resolved by crystallization of its diastereomeric salts with cinchonidine.Optical rotatory dispersion of the dextrorotatory acid, its amides and esters was determined in the region 340λ600 nm.Two-term equations describing optical rotation of the acid in several solvents in this spectral region were derived.
