From the intact cells of the sulfur-metabolizing hyperthermophilic archaea Thermococcus tadjuricus (strain Ob9) and Thermococcus acidaminovorans (strain Vc6bk) 23 predominantly new cyclic polysulfides could be isolated by using chemical screening methods.
