The invention provides a preparation method of N - cyanoethyl - N - acetoxyethyl aniline. The preparation method comprises the following steps of 1) carrying out hydroxylation reaction N - cyanoethylaniline with ethylene oxide to obtain hydroxylate N - cyanoethyl - N - hydroxyethyl aniline. Step 2), the hydroxylate N - cyanoethyl - N - hydroxyethyl aniline is subjected to an esterification reaction with acetic anhydride and/or acetic acid to obtain an ester. The invention discloses a synthetic technology of hydroxyethylaniline ester (III). The synthesis process is shown by a chemical equation shown in the description.
