A Comparison of the Nutrition of Egg and Meat
  • A Comparison of the Nutrition of Egg and Meat
  • Although eggs and meat both contain very high nutritional value, however, the types and quantities of the nutrients in them are quite different. Experts caution that, if people only eat one of these two kinds of food for a long time, it will inevitably lead to nutrient imbalances, which will cause adverse effects to the health. Therefore, it is necessary to make a comparison of the nutrition components of eggs and meat.

    First, three major nutrients
The content of protein in lean pork is slightly higher than that in eggs. But the composition of the amino acids of egg protein is the closest to the protein in human tissue, so it has the highest biological value. The content of fat and carbohydrate in the eggs is slightly higher than the meat.

    Second, cholesterol
The cholesterol content in eggs is 10 times higher than the meat. If  you eat two or three eggs every day, over time, it may elevate the level of blood cholesterol. Therefore, children had better eat one egg only every day. Although egg yolk contains much cholesterol, it also contains a lot of . Lecithin is an emulsifier, which can lower blood cholesterol. What's more, the nutrition components in eggs are relatively comprehensive and balanced, and are easy to digest and absorb by human body.

    Third, minerals
is one of the raw materials necessary to the production of red blood cells. Although eggs and meat contain nearly the same amount of  iron, however, the iron in meat can be better absorbed by the body than the egg. This is because that the phosphate in egg yolk will combine with the iron, affecting the absorption of iron. In addition, meat contains more potassium but less sodium than eggs. And eggs are rich in calcium and selenium.

    Fourth, vitamins
Eggs contain a lot of , which can rarely be found in meat. Vitamin A can not only maintain the integrity and promote the growth and development of the epithelial cells, but also can increase the immune function of the body. In addition, the content of vitamin E and B2 in eggs are higher than the meat.

From this we can see, each food has some limitation in its nutrition. So we should not only eat some specific food or reject others according to our own preferences. Instead, we should form good eating habits, paying attention to eating various kinds of food, so as to take in sufficient and balanced nutrition for our body.
