Star Lake was founded in 1964 as a small factory producing agricultural products at Zhaoqing. Then Star Lake gourmet powder Co. Ltd. was founded in 1992 which was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1994. The whole group was renamed STAR LAKE BIOSCIENCE CO. INC. ZHAOQING, GUANGDONG in 2000. In the meantime, the code name in Shanghai Stock Exchange was also changed to Star Lake Bioscience accordingly. Star Lake has obtained the ISO 9001:2000 certificate and the cGMP certificate. Ribavirin (36791-04-5) of their origin was approved by FDA. The Bio-fermentation factory for L-threonine (72-19-5) feed grade gained the certificate of  ISO, HACCP and FAMI-QS. Their R&D center that meets the National standard.

The Star Lake product portfolio has developed from MSG to APIs, pharmaceutical, intermediates, food addition, feed additives, seasonings, etc. and the company is the largest global manufacturer of Ribavirin, Inosine (58-63-9), and L- Proline. Star Lake quality control systems and their regular testing of the products are performed using the latest technology and instruments such as the liquid chromatograph, the gas chromatograph, the infra red spectrophotometer, and the ultra violet spectrophotometer.
