 Copper phthalocyanine (CAS NO.147-14-8) was first developed as a pigment in the mid-1930s.

 Copper phthalocyanine (CAS NO.147-14-8)'s brilliant blue is frequently used in paints and dyes. Due to its stability, Copper phthalocyanine is also used in inks, coatings, and many plastics. It is a standard pigment used in printing ink and the packaging industry. Copper phthalocyanine is also used as a source material for manufacture of Phthalocyanine Green G. As presently produced, they are highly stable pigments, resistant to crystallization in organic solvents, and essentially free from flocculation in coatings. Both the green and the blue dyes have high tinting power and are used in latex paints and in printing inks, as well as all types of interior and exterior coatings.
