Light yellow crystals. Mp 90C, distills at 3 mm without decomposition. Slightly soluble in cold water, alcohol, and ether; soluble in hot water and dilute mineral acids.
Derivation:
Chlorination of vinyl acetate and condensation with thiourea.
Use:
Intermediate in synthesis of sulfathiazole, medicine (thyroid inhibitor).
