    An azo, triarylmethane, or anthraquinone dye with acid substituents such as nitro-, carboxy-, or sulfonic acid. These dyes are most frequently applied in acid soluble to wool and silk, and no doubt combine with the basic groups of the proteins of those animal fibers. Orange II (CI 15,510), black 10B, and acid alizarine blue B are examples.
