(1949– ). An American born in Northfield, Minnesota who won the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 2003 for his pioneering work concerning discoveries about water channels in cell membranes. Agre received an undergratuate degree from Augsburg College and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University, where he continues his research.
