Derivation:
Interaction of ammonium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and sodium chlorate. Recovery by crystallization.
Hazard:
Strong oxidizing agent; ignites violently with combustibles. Shocksensitive; may explode when exposed to heat or by spontaneous chemical reaction. Sensitive, high explosive when contaminated with reducing materials. Skin irritant.
Use:
Explosives, pyrotechnics, analytical chemistry, etching and engraving agent, smokeless rocket and jet propellant.
