A flow-regulating device consisting of a perforated metal plate placed horizontally in liquid-mixing tanks, distillation columns, and the like to restrict or divert the passage of liquid, thus providing a uniformly dispersed flow. Baffles are also used in open-steam autoclaves to ensure even distribution of the entering steam.
