| (1) From anthranol and glycerol via condensation via sulfuric acid (anthranol is made from anthraquinone), (2) from anthracene in sulfuric acid solution by addition of glycerol and heating to 100–110C until the anthracene disappears. The reaction mass is then diluted with water, salted out, and purified. | |
