Derivation:
(1) Bromination of toluene, (2) interaction of benzyl alcohol and hydrobromic acid.
Hazard:
Highly toxic. Corrosive to skin and tissue. A lachrymator.
Use:
Making foaming and frothing agents, organic synthesis.
