    Properties:
    Colorless or slightly yellow liquid; turns yellow on exposure; unstable except in very dilute solution. D 3.28, bp decomposes at 100C. Exists only in water solution.
     
    Derivation:
    Sulfuric acid is added to a solution of barium bromate, and the product is recovered by subsequent distillation and absorption in water.
     
    Hazard:
    By ingestion and inhalation. Strong irritant to tissue.
     
    Use:
    Dyes, intermediates, pharmaceuticals, oxidizing agent.
