    Detailed information:
    A cellulose resin in which the cellulose is almost completely esterified by acetic acid.
    Properties:
    White flakes. D 1.2. Soluble in chloroform, methylene chloride, tetrachloroethane. Combustible.
     
    Derivation:
    Reaction of purified cellulose with acetic anhydride in the presence of sulfuric acid as catalyst and glacial acetic acid as solvent, followed by very slight hydrolysis.
     
    Grade:
    Flake.
     
    Use:
    Protective coatings resistant to most solvents, textile fibers; base for magnetic tape.
