D 3.88 (25C), no odor except hydrogen fluoride odor developed in moist air; stable in sealed containers; reacts readily with moisture in theatmosphere to form a dark, almost black powder; reacts with water to form a black, finely divided precipitate (cobaltic hydroxide). Insoluble in alcohol and benzene. As a fluorinating agent, yieldsone atom of fluorine and reverts to the difluoride. The spent cobalt difluoride may be regenerated with elemental fluorine. | |
