(cotton spraying oil). A compounded oil sprayed (in the form of a fine mist) onto cotton to condition the fibers for yarn-making operations. Used to lubricate the fibers, to reduce static, “fly,” and dust, and generally to improve the suppleness and strength of the fibers.
