An alicyclic hydrocarbon having two or more double bonds, e.g., the very reactive and widely used cyclopentadiene derived from coal tar, as well as cyclohexadiene and cyclooctatetraene, containing six and eight carbon atoms, respectively. The latter has four double bonds and is a polymer of acetylene.
