    Properties:
    Brown flocculant precipitate that dries as the oxide. D 3.4–3.9, mp loses water at approximately 500C. Soluble in acids; insoluble in water, alcohol, and ether. Noncombustible.
     
    Derivation:
    Addition of ferrous sulfate solution to ammonia solution.
     
    Use:
    Water purification, manufacturing pigments, rubber pigment, catalyst.
