Gamma-ray Spectroscopy

    Name:
    Gamma-ray Spectroscopy
    Detailed information:
(γ-ray spectroscopy). An analytical technique involving the use of γ radiation, which is emitted from radioactive nuclei in discrete energies. The spectrum of energies and the relative intensities of the γ rays often characterize the radionuclide that emits them; these are determined by γ-ray spectroscopy. It is possible to identify quantitatively the elements present by their characteristic γ-ray spectra, as well as to determine radioactive decay rates.
