(1899–1986). A German-born biochemist who won the Nobel Prize in 1953 for the discovery of coenzyme A (CoA). He earned doctorates at the University of Berlin in both chemistry and medicine. He worked at Cornell and Harvard Universities. He founded the biochemistry department of Brandeis University and later joined the factulty of Rockfeller University.
