    A reaction by which methane is formed from the hydrogen and carbon monoxide derived from coal gasification. It requires a catalyst, e.g., nickel, and temperatures in the range of 500C. In one process the reaction is performed in an adiabatic fixed-bed reactor. The reaction is 3H2 + CO → CH4 + water.See Gasification.
