Auxiliary fuel for automotive equipment, electric power production, fuel cells, etc. A mixture of methanol and alcohols of up to four carbon atoms, it is made by catalytic treatment of synthesis gas. It can be blended with gasoline in low percentage. Its combustion products contain less polluting components than No. 5 fuel oil.See Methyl Alcohol.
