A propellant that combines fuel and oxidizer in one compound or mixture. Gunpowder is an example of a solid monopropellant. Liquid monopropellants, for rockets, include: methyl nitrate, nitromethane, a mixture of hydrocarbons with tetranitromethane, a mixture of methyl nitrate and methanol.See Rocket Fuel.
